It’s funny the things that are readily available to the public about our former commanders in chief. This is good ol’ LBJ giving (graphically) specific instructions to his tailor. He even lets rip a rather substantial burp at one point. If you want to hear an old, dead president acting more staid, there’s actually a rare 1892 recording of Grover Cleveland campaigning against Benjamin Harrison. Put that in your sporcle-bank and smoke it!

This kid has like 19 years on me, and he’s already doing the “dun dun” song. (This is what I listen to when I’m walking down Trousdale and want to believe that people are suddenly going to crawl out from behind bike racks and slide down VKC’s bannisters and we’ll all do a synchronized dance. Hall and Oates brings people together.)

Three of my favorite things: Allison Janney, Mary Louise Parker, The West Wing. This show is amazing.

I want to learn how to do this.

Please please pretty please USC, for 2011.

Student journalism haters, take note. There is a larger lesson to be gleaned from this saga and others like it over the past academic year. Nowadays, when a breeze becomes a storm and student press freedom is threatened or torn, j-students will not sit quietly or throw up their ink-stained hands in defeat. They have the organizational structure, outside legal and advocacy group support, professional media backing, and the power of the web to enable misdeeds aimed at collegemediatopia to become known and earn mass condemnation (and a related PR nightmare).
Dan Reimold, Ph.D, the impassioned blogger who maintains College Media Matters, a great blog on the goings on of student journalism across the country. Reimold is commenting on the victory of The Breeze, JMU’s student newspaper, which — with the help of on-campus legals groups — fought the unfair trespassing and seizure of photos from the newsroom by university officials.

This is the circus. Everyone’s trying not to go home. Nobody’s saying goodbye.
